Ukraine Ports Throughput Climbs 4% in Jan-Sept 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. October 11, 2011. Cargo traffic at 18 seaports of Ukraine in January-September rose by 4 percent year-over-year, to 83,356,400 tons, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine said Tuesday.
The nine-month volume of transit cargoes leaped by 26.2 percent from a year earlier, to 30,142,300 tons.
The volume of handled cargo at Yalta port soared 73.8 percent from last year’s figure. The port of Evpatoria throughput surged by 42.9 percent, Yuzhny port posted a 29.1 percent gain. Port of Nekolayev - an increase of 17.4%, Port of Reni - an increase of 12.8%, Berdyansk port - an increase of 12.3%, the port of Feodosiya - an increase of 12%. Cargo traffic at Kerch port rose by 9.4%, at Kherson port by 6.2%.
In the reporting period, transshipments of transit cargo at Kerch port jumped by 182.6%, Yuzhny port demonstrated a 60.5% rebound, Nikolayev Port - a 27.2% increase, Evpatoria port - 25.2%, Skadovskii port - 16.9%, the port of Odessa - a 13.4% growth, Berdyansk port throughput was up 13.2%, of Odesa port – grew by 7.1%, of Reni port – by 6.2%, of Illichevsk port – by 3.2%.
