Engtransstroy to Rebuild and Upgrade M-1 and M-4 Federal Highways
OREANDA-NEWS. October 11, 2011. In accordance with the results of an open tender, Engtransstroy (ETS) and the State Company Russian Highways have entered into the contract to rebuild the km 28 – km 32+500 segment of M-1 Belarus Highway in the Moscow Region.
Pursuant to the contract, ETS will develop project documentation, carry out land survey and rebuild the highway segment. The RUB3.771 billion project (including VAT) is scheduled for completion in December 2013.
At the initial stage of the project, ETS will carry out a significant scope of land conditioning work and engineering tie-in overhaul. To relieve traffic congestion on the km 28 – km 32+500 segment of M-1 Belarus Highway, ETS will erect complex road infrastructure, including split-level interchanges, which will eliminate all left turns along the segment. In addition, ETS will rebuild the main traffic way, stripping the existing road pavement and expanding the traffic way to six lanes. In accordance with the contract, ETS will build a 23 m bridge over the Likova River, three underground and one over-ground pedestrian crossings, outer light lines along the entire segment, noise screens and central reserve guard rails, and carry out landscaping and planting on adjacent areas.
As a result, the rebuilt segment will be classified as Technical Grade 1 road with design speed of 120 km/h.
ETS and the State Company Russian Highways have also entered into the contract to upgrade a 96 km segment of M-4 Don Federal Highway. In accordance with the contract, ETS will develop project documentation for the Moscow Ring Road – Kashira segment (km 21 – km 17, Moscow Region), erect noise screens and arrange exterior illumination, power supply and emergency call systems, as well as build two power transformer substations. An innovative feature of the project will be an automated illumination control system (adjustable lamps with daytime/nighttime modes). The RUB1.928 billion project (including VAT) is scheduled for completion on November 30, 2011.
By way of reminder, ETS currently continues to upgrade the segment km 33 – km 45 of M-1 Belarus Highway, in accordance with a 2007 contract. The project scope includes extension of the traffic way to 4 lanes in each direction, as well as construction of 5 overpasses and 6 over-ground pedestrian crossings. The project is being implemented round-the-clock, with no traffic interruption. In 2008-2011, ETS also upgraded segments of M-4 Don Highway, including the Moscow Ring Road – Kashira segment (km 48 – km 71), Zadonsk and Khlevnoye Bypass (km 414 – km 464, Lipetsk Region), and Efremov Bypass (Tula Region).
Deep understanding of the projects, established strong production relationships and efficient resource management coupled with professionalism of the team instill confidence with regard to the ability of ETS to fulfill the contracts duly and on time.
