KAMAZ New Grain Carrier: Road Test
OREANDA-NEWS. October 11, 2011. OJSC KAMAZ’s distributor producing vehicles with gas engines – RariTEK – took an active part in the exhibition organized at the Grain of Russia’2011 International Conference.
The exhibition of agricultural equipment producers’ achievements was held at the Trade and Exhibition Centre of OOO Rostovagrolizing in Rostov-on-Don. RariTEK presented the visitors gas-engine powered cars running on compressed natural gas (methane). The exhibition included a dumping grain carrier based on KAMAZ-65115 with a tipper trailer, a three-way tipping truck KAMAZ-65115, a rear-unloading dump truck KAMAZ-65115, a vacuum machine KO-505AG and a city bus NEFAZ-5299-30-31. The presentation of the KAMAZ vehicles aroused exhibitors’ and journalists’ great interest. But the visitors’ particular attention was drawn by the results of tests which had been conducted on the eve of the exhibition.
Two vehicles – the gas-powered grain carrier on the KAMAZ 65115-30 chassis and the diesel grain carrier on the KDMMZ 65115-017 chassis – participated in the test drive along the route “Rostov-on-Don – Moskovskiy Farmsted” 440 km long. The test drive actually showed all characteristics and advantages of the KAMAZ vehicles running on compressed natural gas. Thus, the speed of the laden vehicles reached 90 km/h at some sections, but when running uphill the gas-powered grain carrier had an advantage over the second vehicle due to high efficiency of the engine. The test showed that the vehicle running on gas fuel (methane) is not inferior to the diesel vehicle in its technical characteristics, but even superior in some features. Savings for one run amounted to 3,460 rubles, which is appreciated by customers.
The grain carrier on the gas-powered KAMAZ-65115-863-30 chassis with a 260hp engine is intended for transportation of various bulk construction, industrial and agricultural cargoes. The fuel system of the vehicle is equipped with 13 cylinders 80 liters each (fuel margin is enough for 500 kilometers). The gas-powered grain carrier can transport up to 20.5 tons of cargo, its cubic capacity (with a trailer) is more than 31 cubic meters, and the engine meets the "Euro-4" environmental standard. The new grain carrier with its great potential for operating costs reduction will be surely appreciated by customers.
