OREANDA-NEWS. October 5, 2011. The ceremony to hand over the new headquarters for Fishing Colony Z-19 will take place. The building is located at Farol de Sao Tome, Campos. Attending the event will be fishermen from the region, representatives of OGX, of the General Management for Oil and Gas of IBAMA, and guests. The headquarters was refurbished by OGX, the EBX Group’s oil and gas company, within the framework of the Environmental Education Project (“PEA”), being one of the requirements for obtaining the company's drilling license in the Campos Basin from IBAMA.

The reform project was chosen by the fishing community of Farol de Sao Tome during an assembly which included a number of members of the community. The headquarters for the Fishing Colony had already been acquired in June 2010 by LLX, also part of the EBX Group of companies.

For the president of the Fishing Colony, Rodolfo Jose, the refurbishment of the colony, along with the purchase of the property, are essential for strengthening the identity of the Farol de Sao Tome fisherman. "We went through a real learning process, because we all had the opportunity to participate in the project, putting ideas together, proposing and discussing them with all concerned present. And we had a lot of fishermen involved here, right from the start," explains Rodolfo Jose.

In May this year the rules for use and management of the colony were defined. The aim of the rules is to guide the fishermen and members in relation to the use of the improvements in the headquarters, as well as how they should behave in this new space.
