OREANDA-NEWS. October 5, 2011. US stocks rose on Tuesday with Financials (+3.86%) and Basic Materials (+3.76%) as the leaders. S&P 500 index rose by 2.25%, Russell 2000 Index – jumped by 6.42%. VIX slumped by 10.2% to 40.82. 

Economic data were neutral. Factory orders declined 0.2% vs consensus forecast of no change.

EURUSD closed near 1.325 as Greece reported it will have enough money until November.

Asian stocks were mixed on Wednesday. S&P/ASX added 1.4%. Korean Kospi declined by 2.33%. Nikkei lost 0.86%.

The European stock indices futures rose in the morning - Dow Jones Stoxx 50 futures was up by 1.63% while Dax futures lost 1.65%. S&P futures lost 0.02%.

In the US, ADP employment for September, due at 16:15, ISM Manufacturing Index, due at 14:00 GMT, will be in focus today.
