OREANDA-NEWS. October 06, 2011. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov predicts that by the end of 2011 the trade turnover between Ukraine and Austria will exceed 1.5 billion dollars. He said this during a meeting with the head of the National Council of Austria Barbara Prammer.

"Trade turnover between our countries increases, there is reasons to believe that by the end of the year it will be over 1.5 billion dollars" - Mykola Azarov said.

The PM added that Ukraine was interested in intensifying economic cooperation with Austria in the frameworks of Danube strategy and in particular in the transport sector.

He stressed that Ukraine is ready to take part in financing the construction of Kyiv-Vienna highway.

"We are interested in financing Kyiv-Vienna highway. Our part of the road to Chop we are constructing and are ready to participate in this project" - the Prime Minister said.

In tern, Barbara Prammer informed on that Austria regarded Ukraine as an important trade and economic partner, adding that many Austrian companies were already operating in Ukraine.

She also said that Ukraine and Austria have a wide field for the intensification of contacts within the Danube strategy.

"On the Danube strategy and cooperation in the Black Sea region, here we have a wide field of activity, and we can intensify this cooperation. And it should be intensified not only bilateral, but also at the multilateral level" - Barbara Prammer said.

She also promised political support of proposals to improve economic cooperation with Ukraine.
