WFE unites more than 50 exchanges around the world, where almost the entire stock exchange market's turnover is concentrated. WFE's activities are aimed at improvement of all aspects of the global stock market by way of its study and analysis, exchange of information and know-how in exchange trading. Membership to this organization is a criterion for many regulators and management companies when choosing the market for making investments. The federation sets and harmonizes international exchange standards promoting them worldwide.

KASE for the first time joined the WFE as a corresponding member in 1997. That status allowed KASE only to participate in open WFE events and obtain information on activities of the said federation. On June 9, 2008 the WFE's Board of Directors  approved upgrade of KASE status in this organization from corresponding member to an affiliated member.
