OREANDA-NEWS. October 04, 2011. Opening ceremony at the Zapolyarnik stadium football field was held in Norilsk, reported the press-centre of Norilsk Nickel .

The stadium reconstruction was resumed in 2010. It was carried out as part of the four-party modernization and development of Norilsk’s social infrastructure and utility networks agreement, concluded between the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation, government of Krasnoyarsk region, Norilsk administration and Norilsk Nickel. The project’s cost has totaled over RUR 700 mil.

Players of Stroitel football club and veterans of Norilsk football were the first to try out the stadium’s new synthetic field. Several hundred spectators have attended the game. New 1000 seat tribunes were constructed in order to accomodate the supporters. The pitch is equipped with a reliable drainage and heating systems. Artificial grass surface was manufactured by FieldTurf Tarkett, it provides the best possible resemblance to the natural surface and complies with FIFA requirements.

It is planned to complete the sporting complex building reconstruction in 2011. It will feature team sports, martial arts and strength training facilities. Additionally, it is planned to construct open air fields for basketball, volleyball and tennis as well as to restore the stadium’s park.
