OREANDA-NEWS. October 3, 2011. The Gazprom Management Committee addressed the information relevant to the efficiency of funds spending on software development and support services from 2005 to 2010 and the planned period from 2011 to 2013.

The meeting noted that Gazprom had adopted the Informatization Strategy in January 2008. It outlined the key development targets in Gazprom's information technologies (IT) sector.

Economic efficiency of the Strategy can only be achieved through attaining these targets with minimum costs. To this end, the following actions were taken:
— necessary funds were allocated, consolidation and centralized management of Gazprom Group's IT costs were ensured;
— optimization and strict regulation were introduced for designing of information and management systems (IMS) and informatization projects financing, project management methods were adopted including monitoring of schedules for informatization projects;
— a single corporate licensing policy is being developed and implemented to minimize the purchased software costs;
— the subsidiary servicing IT company, Gazprom inform, was created on the platform of Gazprom's subsidiaries Informgazinvest and Informgaz as a single center to manage the full lifecycle of target IMS at the operational level, its branches are being developed on the basis of IT services of Gazprom's major subsidiaries.

As a result of the said comprehensive measures, Gazprom saved RUB 22.6 billion between 2011 and 2013. From 2011 to 2013 the savings are expected to be at RUB 58.2 billion.

Gazprom's Management Committee approved the key efficiency indicators of IT management and tasked the specialized structural units to ensure their introduction.

Background:

The Gazprom Informatization Strategy is implemented in compliance with annually approved plans. The portfolio of informatization projects stipulates performance of work in the following key areas:
— shaping vertically-integrated information and management systems (IMS) based on the Corporate Data Bank to support the corporate management processes in the gas business;
— creating typical IMS for subsidiary gas companies with due regard to Gazprom's business activities;
— introducing system-wide solutions ensuring information and technological integration of functional modules within the target system architecture.
