OREANDA-NEWS. October 03, 2011. President Viktor Yanukovych has signed the Law "On Amendments to Several Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding the Improvement of Legal Regulation of Support of Hostel Residents’ Housing Rights Realization".

According to the President from now on hostel inhabitants can not be evicted from their residences. “Every Ukrainian should be confident in the future of his residential space,” President stated.

New edition of the Law provides for mandatory transfer of hostels to the ownership of local communities with their subsequent privatization and defines the order of this procedure.

Pursuant to the Law such citizens are entitled to privatization who are legally registered for a long time (at least five years) and actually living in hostels designed for single accommodation or accommodation for family and do not have their own housing.

The Law also provides for three-year prolongation of moratorium on hostel alienation.
