It was said at the meeting of the Belarus Ambassador to Moldova Veacheslav Osipenco with Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Valerii Lazar, who is the co-chairman of the commission, it was informed at the Belarus Embassy in Moldova. The sides discussed practical issues of preparation for the forthcoming meeting.

They noted a significant bilateral trade dynamics as an important positive result of the bilateral trade and economic cooperation. For example, in January-August 2011, the commodity turnover between Moldova and Belarus increased by more than 1.5 times. Valerii Lazar was informed of a considerable growth of Belarus supplies to Moldova, and Moldova’s role as one of the main fruit and vegetable and wine production suppliers to Belarus was also noted.

The sides agreed that it is necessary for the both countries’ governments to support joint projects – to increase scales of assembly of Belarus tractors in Moldova, to organize a joint assembly of trolleybuses in Chisinau in 2012 basing on the Belcommunmas. Development of the inter-regional ties of Moldova and Belarus was considered as one of the promising directions of cooperation.
