OREANDA-NEWS. September 30, 2011. Sviaz-Bank has joined the safe payment system by launching a new program protecting payments made for purchases of goods and services on the Internet for its customers holding plastic cards from the VISA international payment system, reported the press-centre of Sviaz-Bank.

The program is based on the unique 3-D Secure data protection technology. A cardholder can have this new service free of charge and use the new technology to make purchases on the sites of Internet shops if they operate the 3-D Secure technology and display the Verified by VISA logotype to confirm it.

The 3-D Secure technology identifies the cardholder making payments online through the Internet, requiring the paying purchaser to enter a security code known to the cardholder only.

For the 3-D Secure protection program to be activated, the cardholder has to be registered through a Bank ATM by selecting the menu “Passwords for Purchases on the Internet” and be given a list of codes. A customer making payments will then be required to enter the 3-DS code in a designated field (one code can only be used once). Upon successful authorization, information on the transaction completed will be displayed on the screen.

The protection program is accessible by all types of cards of the Visa payment systems, beginning with Visa Classic.

Paying with a Sviaz-Bank card on the Internet is even more secure now.
