Ingosstrakh Insurance Company Opens Insurance Museum

The showpieces of the first hall illustrate the prehistory of insurance, depict the past of the insurance business from the remote ages till the beginning of 20th century. One may find here pieces of ancient texts: Laws of Babylon king Hammurapy, Bible, Pentateuch, Roman Law, Russian Truth of Yaroslav the Wise reflecting real-life situations related to insurance risks.
Materials of the second hall speak in details about insurance business in Soviet Russia, start-up period of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company and expansion of its present abroad. This hall also represents the Resolution of Council of Ministers of USSR on establishment of Foreign Insurance Department of November 16, 1947. This very date is believed to be the birth date of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company. Moreover, the visitors of the second hall may learn about outstanding events the company’s history is rich for. These include the origin of space risk insurance, insurance claim payment after crash of TU-144 at Le Bourge Air Show, lifting of 5.5 toms of gold from ‘
The third hall is dedicated to main directions of activity of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company: insurance of vessels and shipowner’s liability, space and aviation risks, cargos, personal insurance including voluntary medical insurance and car insurance. One may get acquainted with the history of development of each direction and learn about the most significant insurance payments.
The fourth hall illustrates charitable and sponsored activities of the company. Key point in this work is projects related to support of disadvantaged children, development of domestic sports and culture.
The fifth hall of the museum is design for various conferences, presentations, round tables, training sessions. Training aids and different Ingosstrakh Insurance Company publications including periodicals, so that every guest of the museum could get acquainted with interesting topical literature. Portraits of 11 managers of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company who at different times were at the head of the company, promoted its growth and development, hang on the main wall of the museum. The hall of fame shows names of veterans and oldest employees of the company.
Tatyana Scherbakova, Director of Museum of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company, thanked everyone who participated in establishment of the facility, artists, designers for their vivid ideas and innovative solutions. ‘Special thanks to those who gave unique exhibits to the museum. All interested in insurance are welcome to visit our museum by previous appointment. The guide will arrange special excursion through the museum’s halls and speak in details of interesting exhibit items’, said Tatyana Scherbakova.
