Cruise Culture Week 2011 Held in Shanghai
OREANDA-NEWS. September 28, 2011. “Cruise Culture Week 2011” was held in Shanghai. Co-organized by SIPG and Hongkou District government, this event was to promote cruise life and cultivate for a better cruise market in Shanghai.
Five theme events have been organized in the week respectively for five cruise liners, namely Costa, Star Cruise, MSC, Oriental Dragon and Royal Caribbean.
Opening ceremony for the cruise culture week was held in SIPG Garden, a waterfront garden near SIPG Tower which is now opened for citizens.
Port of Shanghai started cruise business in 2006 and has now become one of the most important cruise hubs in North-east Asia. To develop cruise industry is not only an important segment of Shanghai’s international shipping center course, but also vital for Shanghai to become a world-famous tourism destination.
In 2011, SIPG Cruise Terminal is estimated to receive 120,000 passengers.
