OREANDA-NEWS. September 27, 2011. The Cold-Rolled Plate and Strip Committee of Baosteel Metals Society was founded and the First Session of the First Society Conference was held. Standing Deputy Director of Baosteel Planning Committee and Standing Vice President of Baosteel Science Association Mr. Li Haiping attended the meeting and GM Assistant of Baoshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd Mr. Chu Shuangjie took the position of the Committee Director, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

In past years, Baosteel Cold-Rolled products have quite supported the company's operation and the products and technology have also led the industry development in the country. With the M&A of Baosteel and incoming new production lines, it turns out to be a significant topic in face of Baosteel science and technology research people in the cold rolling field to further fully enhance Baosteel Cold-Rolled Plate and Strip technology which will continuously support Baosteel operation.

Therefore, by running of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd and on the basis of existing Cold-Rolling Task Group of Baosteel Metals Society and absorption of new members in the cold rolling field within the entire group, the Cold-Rolled Plate and Strip Committee of Baosteel Metals Society was founded. Its purposes are to follow up the advanced technology development for cold-rolled plate and strip in nowadays world, strengthen the cultivation of technological talent, carry out professional technology and seminar exchange so as to advance the technology progress and science and technology development of Baosteel cold-rolled plates and strips. The newly founded professional committee consisted of 16 units which cover BNA, Silicon Steel Department, Meishan Iron&Steel Company, Stainless Steel Business Unit, Special Steel Business Unit, Bayi Iron&Steel company, Huangshi company, Ninbo Baoxin, Ninbo Steel and it also absorbed sales and purchasing departments.

On the meeting, Chief Researcher of China Steel Association Mr. Li Shijun was invited to give a lecture on the topic of four challenges in face of China iron and steel industry during the twelfth five year planning period, and science researchers from Baosteel research institute also introduced the research work on topic of evaluation on full life cycle period of Baosteel cold-rolled products. This conference clearly defined the 8 major work this year for the committee i.e. To strengthen the organization construction, improve the technical people learning matrix, implement professional people partnership plan, reinforce the technical capability improvement for high end talent, stimulate high class thesis and research results, carry out bench-marking of same work sequence in the cold rolling production., improve the vigor and influence of the professional committee and popularize the science and technology knowledge.

Mr. Li Haiping expected that the professional committee could play the role of bridge and bonds and actively conduct cross-span major and cross-major technological exchange and provide professional support for Baosteel cold-rolling comprehensive capability and significant decision making.
