Living Wage Amounted to 1502,8 Leis in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. September 27, 2011. The living wage per man in Moldova in the second quarter of 2011 amounted to 1,502.8 leis, up 8.4 percent in comparison with the same period last year. The urban population’s living wage is 19.1% higher than that of rural residents and amounts to 1,658.9 leis, according to the National Statistics Office.
The living wage in rural areas is 1,391.4 leis. The most expensive basket of goods accounts for capable of working citizens (1,587.3 leis), mainly men (1,667.4 leis), Pensioners’ living wage was 1,311.1 leis. The living wage of children averaged 1,370.4 leis a month, varying depending on the child’s age between 579.1leis for kids younger than one year old and 1,523.8 leis for children at the age of 7-16 years old.
The average wage in Moldova in the second quarter of 2011 amounted to 3,302 leis, up 11.3% against the same period last year. It covered the living wage for population capable of working 2.1 times. The maximal level of coverage of the living wage for population capable of working was registered by employees of the financial sector – 4.2 times, while the minimal one – by workers of the fishing industry, their salary covering the living wage by 99.96 percent.
The average monthly pension amounted to 875.6 leis, up 8.2 percent against the same period last year. The pension covers only 66.8 percent of pensioners’ living wage.
