OREANDA-NEWS. September 26, 2011. The 2nd BRICS Competition Conference opened in Beijing (the People’s Republic of China), organised jointly by BRICS competition authorities (Brazil – Russia – India – China – South Africa), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The delegation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) at the conference is led by the Head of FAS Igor Artemyev.

“Development of the economy and suppressing monopolistic activities are characteristic requirements of the global economy. China’s Government pays careful attention to unfair competition”, pointed out Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China and the Chairman of Competition Commission, Mr. Wang Qishan, opening the 2nd BRICS Competition Conference in Beijing.

The 1st BRIC Conference was initiated by the Federal Antimonopoly Service and took place just over two years in Kazan, Russia. During this period BRIC boundaries have expanded – on 23rd December 2010 Brazil, Russia, India and China were joined by the Republic of South Africa.

The official status of BRICS International Competition Conference was formalised in the Actions Plan adopted by BRICS leaders during their summit in China on 14th April 2011, which confirms importance of this event for expanding cooperation between these countries towards approximation of the principles for competition policies and enforcement standards.

BRICS International Competition Conference is an ideal platform for mutual exchange of experiences and knowledge in the field of antimonopoly enforcement and harmonization of approaches to competition regulation in BRICS member countries.
