OREANDA-NEWS. September 26, 2011. In course of a delegation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) visiting Beijing (the People’s Republic of China) to participate in the 2nd BRICS International Competition Conference, the Head of the FAS Russia, Mr. Igor Artemyev, had a meting with General Director of Antimonopoly Bureau of China’s Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Shang Ming, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The parties discussed the main areas of their work in the field of competition policy, described to each other the main objectives, scope of reference and structure of the antimonopoly bodies as well as changes in the antimonopoly law of both countries. Special attention was paid to control of economic concentration, merger review procedures, threshold values in economic concentration control as well as economic analysis of economic concentration and evaluation of the state of competition on domestic markets.

In particular, Igor Artemyev said that Russia and China have comparable thresholds for approving economic concentration.

The parties also discussed the prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in the field of control over economic concentration, in particular, cooperation and information exchange in course of investigation of cross-border mergers in line with confidentiality rules.
