OREANDA-NEWS. September 26, 2011. It will be possible as Moldova’s regulating bodies will provide the company with the license for using the 4G technology, according to the Moldcell company. The fourth generation technology (4G/LTE) offers to customers a whole new mobility experience using mobile broadband services. Starting from this technology, the services from the area of business, mass media and social field (security, medical care, education, etc.) are developed and continuously improved.

Thanks to the new technology, downloading files, surfing the Internet, watching movies in HD format is a pleasure that offers maximum comfort and liberty not to depend on fixed telephone line. It will enhance more demanding applications such as interactive TV, mobile video blogging, advanced games and professional services. Its infrastructure is designed to be as simple as possible to deploy and operate, through flexible technology that can be used in a wide variety of frequency bands. 4G is about to turn 2 years from the moment when TeliaSonera, the major shareholder of Moldcell Company, became the first operator in the world that launched 4G services commercially to customers in Stockholm, Sweden and Oslo, Norway.

Today, TeliaSonera offers to its customers 4G in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Estonia, and recently also in Lithuania and Latvia. This year started with TeliaSonera’s sale of the world’s first laptop with embedded 4G in Sweden. The laptop is a Samsung X430 with a 14 inch led-screen. The modem inside is 4G/3G/2G compatible. Meanwhile, in Republic of Moldova, Moldcell announced this Spring its readiness to commercially launch the network of fourth generation. During the ICT Summit organized in Chisinau in the framework of the week of telecommunications and information society, Moldcell proved during the presentation that 4G speed of up to 100 Mbps is a reality.

And on June 14th, Moldcell in partnership with Ericsson and Jurnal TV channel brought a new technological surprise. Using 4G network and the special device with LiveU application the first live TV report was broadcasted in HD format in front of the public. Jurnal TV reporter placed in the central park “Stefan cel Mare” addressed in live regime its first congratulations on the historical day to the audience seated in Leogrand using just the video camera, Moldcell 4G modem and LiveU device and application. No cables, no additional mobile TV truck.

The demo proved one more time the key advantages of 4G technology: simple, fast, high quality and mobile. A few weeks later, on June 28th, Ericsson Company, which is TeliaSonera’s 4G partner, demonstrated to the world the 1 Gbps version of LTE. The LTE Advanced technology reaches 1 Gbps peak speed for the customer, using 8 antennas and MIMO technology. Speeds reaching several gigabytes are already available via the mobile cell network. The high speeds are possible thanks to the consolidation of several frequencies in a 60 MHz band and an extended MIMO functionality. Ericsson demonstrated in the headquarters of the company in Stockholm a pilot LTE Advanced-based network.
