Meeting the food needs of a world population that is growing in both size and prosperity will be one of the greatest challenges of the 21st Century. It will require massive increases in food production, better infrastructure and more open trade between regions. Bunge is committed to playing a role by improving the global agribusiness and food production chain and by working in collaboration with other stakeholders from business, government and civil society on broad-based solutions.
The World Economic Forum, Bunge and other leading global companies have issued "A New Vision for Agriculture" with a roadmap for addressing the challenges of global food and agricultural sustainability and clear goals: Increase agricultural production by 20 percent, decrease emissions by 20 percent and reduce rural poverty by 20 percent every decade to meet the needs of a rapidly growing world.
