Safe Operation of Norilsk Nickel Ships Passes Certification
OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2011. OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel (hereinafter – MMC Norilsk Nickel or the Company) informs that representatives of Murmansk department, Russian Marine Register of Shipping, certified the Safe Operation of Ships and Pollution Prevention System of MMC Norilsk Nickel in Murmansk Transport Department (hereinafter – MTD) of the Company, reported the press-centre of Norilsk Nickel.
The certification was divided into two stages. The first stage was the planned audit for renewal of Certificate of the Company’s Compliance in regards to operation of the current dry cargo fleet. As a result of the audit MTD Safe Operation of Ships and Pollution Prevention System is acknowledged to be in compliance with international standards of ships operation safety and pollution prevention.
The Company received renewed Certificate of the Company’s Compliance, which allows MMC Norilsk Nickel to operate its cargo ships both internally and internationally.
At the moment, Murmansk Transport Department of MMC Norilsk Nickel prepares for operation of new type of vessel – Yenissey crude oil tanker. Therefore, the second stage of certification was the audit of MTD readiness for safe operation of this type of vessels. As a result, the Company received Temporary Certificate of the Company’s Compliance, which allows Company to operate the new tanker immediately after it is commissioned in Wismar (Germany) in the end of September, 2011.
