Karelia keeps preparing for the International forum Investments Into the Future. On September 21 Head of Karelia Andrei Nelidov has held a regular session of the organizing committee.

The forum will take place in Petrozavodsk on November 24 and is supposed to become the main public event of the year. The idea of the forum was suggested by the Government of Karelia and supported by the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.

Carrying out of the high-level forum will let Karelia present its economic potential and involve large investors in implementation of new projects. High officials of the Russian state, heads of federal authorities, delegation of regions, representatives of large Russian business and foreign companies are expected to take part in work of the forum.

However, standard economic forums and conferences are held in many regions, therefore, at the session of the organizing committee Head of the republic has given his point of view of marking out Karelian forum Investments Into the Future from the chain of similar events and making the most of it for the region.

In the opinion of Andrei Nelidov, at the forum in Petrozavodsk it is necessary to start the all-Russian dialogue about the future of our country. "The main criterion of life today is economy. However, developing just only economy we will not receive the result that people expect. There are many other things in life except for money without which the person will not be happy. It would be extremely important to understand what Russia and Karelia should be in 10-20 years, what will be our basic priorities," – Andrey Nelidov has told.

Head of the republic has expressed his hope that, having started small the forum in Karelia in five years may become the main place for discussion of aspects of spirituality, development of the society, ecology and other socially important issues. On the assumption of tasks of the forum, in November the republic will welcome economists, representatives of the clergy and public organizations. "At the forum we should find out what to do and what to invest in today to make people feel more happy in their native country," - Head of the republic said. That is why the forum in Petrozavodsk has got the title of Investments Into the Future.
