Chinese Official Says Moldovan Wine Not Worse than French
OREANDA-NEWS. September 21, 2011. Prime Minister Vlad Filat met the deputy chairman of the Permanent Committee of the Great National Assembly of Chinese People's Representatives, Sang Guowei, the government's communications and press relations department has said.
The official, accompanied by a Chinese parliamentary delegation, is paying an official visit to Moldova.
The prime minister welcomed the high guest to Moldova, wishing him a pleasant stay.
Vlad Filat thanked China for the support given to Moldova, praising the very good relations between the two countries. The prime minister advocated the consolidation of these ties, especially in terms of economic cooperation.
The prime minister noted that a string of projects were launched in the economic, as well as healthcare sectors, some of which have been already completed.
Vlad Filat asked the Chinese delegation to convey his greetings to Prime Minister of China Wen Jiabao. He noted that, after the 2010 meeting, several important projects had been implemented.
The prime minister expressed the government's willingness to facilitate Chinese tourists' visits to Moldova, and promised support to speed up the projects started by Chinese investors.
In particular, Vlad Filat referred to the joint projects carried out in the infrastructure, telecommunications, agriculture areas, etc.
The prime minister said China's experience of economic growth is relevant. He specified that the economic changes between the two countries recorded progress, and spoke out for their further consolidation.
Vlad Filat said Moldova needs more support from China to promote the Moldovan wines on the Chinese market, and proposed to start joint actions to this end.
At the same time, Vlad Filat advocated better knowledge of the Moldovan culture in China and Chinese one in Moldova. The prime minister said he is optimistic about the development of the Moldovan-Chinese relations in different fields.
For his part, the Chinese parliament's deputy chairman conveyed to Prime Minister Vlad Filat a greeting message from Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, and offered congratulations on the 20th anniversary of Moldova's independence.
Sang Guowei said that, for 20 years, the Moldovan-Chinese relations have been stable and witnessed a quick development over the last years.
The Chinese official underlined that his country pays increased attention to the relations with Moldova, as the latter is viewed as a trustworthy partner in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Sang Guowei specified that China backs Moldova's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the efforts to settle the Transnistrian conflict.
The Chinese parliament's deputy chairman said that in 2010 the Moldovan-Chinese trade exchanges increased by 15 per cent against the year before, and Moldova's exports to China were doubled. In the first half of 2011, the trade exchanges stood at 50 million dollars, and the Moldovan exports to China reached a record high, soaring by 154 per cent.
Sang Guowei said Moldova and China have very good prospects in the economic sector, and made proposals of cooperation.
The Chinese parliament's representative said China is interested in implementing projects of roads' infrastructure, farming sector, telecommunications, as well as tourism.
Sang Guowei highly appreciated the Moldovan wines' quality, stressing that the Moldovan wines' export to China grew seven-fold in 2010.
"The Moldovan wine is not worse than the French one in terms of quality, therefore, we should make it more known on the Chinese market," the Chinese official said.
Sang Guowei praised the level of economic development and social stability in Moldova. He voiced China's willingness to increase the imports of Moldovan goods.
