OREANDA-NEWS. September 19, 2011. Today, on September 13, OJSC KAMAZ and Marcopolo S.A. have signed an agreement on a joint venture.

The agreement was signed by General Director of OJSC KAMAZ Sergey Kogogin (on the part of the Russian company), CEO of Marcopolo S.A. José Rubens de la Rosa and General Director of OOO PoloAvtoRus Yuri Eduardo Caio (on the part of the Brazilian company) in Moscow, at the opening of the COMTRANS exhibition, the largest show of trucks, buses and special vehicles in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe.

The main purpose of the joint venture set up on a parity basis by OJSC KAMAZ and Marcopolo is to manufacture and sell Marcopolo buses on KAMAZ chassis complying with Euro 4 standards and satisfying todays’ requirements for passenger transportation in the Russian Federation and CIS countries. Buses will be produced at the facilities of a subsidiary of OJSC KAMAZ –NEFAZ – in Neftekamsk, the Republic of Bashkortostan. The joint venture plans to produce 3,000 buses per year and attain its projected capacity in 2016.

The first prototype of a new small class bus jointly developed by OJSC KAMAZ and Marcopolo will be presented at the exhibition. The bus has got a body by Marcopolo which is mounted on a KAMAZ chassis that meets the Euro 4 standards and is equipped with components made by the world`s largest automobile producers: a Cummins engine, a ZF gearbox, Daimler axles, a Knorr-Bremse braking system. the company plans to start selling such buses in the second quarter of 2012.
