Indian Railway Revenue Earnings up by 9.25%
OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2011. The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period from 1st to 10th September 2011 were Rs. 2510.31 crore compared to Rs. 2297.72 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 9.25 per cent.
The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 1501.17 crore during the period from 1st to 10th September 2010 to Rs. 1624.59 crore during 1st September – 10th September 2011, showing an increase of 8.22 per cent. The total passenger revenue earnings during the period 1st to 10th September 2011 were Rs. 796.99 crore compared to Rs. 705.87 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 12.91 per cent. The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 67.64 crore during this period compared to Rs. 65.92 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 2.61 per cent.
The total approximate number of passengers booked during the period 1st to 10th September 2011 were 236.29 million compared to 214.52 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 10.15 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during 1st to 10th September, 2011 were 124.20 million and 112.09 million compared to 113.24 million and 101.28 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 9.68 per cent and 10.67 per cent respectively.
