Azerbaijan: CPI Fell to 8.5% against Rise of Wholesale Prices by 26.2%
OREANDA-NEWS. September 15, 2011. Deflationary processes were kept in Azerbaijani economy this August.
The State Statistics Committee informs that for Jan-August 2011 consumer price inflation in Azerbaijan made up 8.5% compared to Jan-August 2010 (year-on-year) versus 5.7% for 2010. At that, this August deflation was 0.6% against July. Inflation rate accumulated since early 2011 is still 2.3% versus 7.6% in 2010. In 2009 consumer price inflation in Azerbaijan was 1.5% compared with 2008, and in December it was 0.8% against November 2009.
In August 2011 the index of wholesale industrial prices increased by 4.5% versus July, and year-on-year (Jan-August) rise of 26.2% was registered.
This August prices in the oil and gas sector fell by 5.4% and year-on-year (Jan-August) grew by 30.7%. Manufacturing industry observed this August stability in prices , and year-on-year – increase by 6.2%. In December 2010, the growth of wholesale price index amounted to 0.4% versus November, and year-on-year 28.4%. In December 2009, growth in wholesale price index amounted to 0.3% against November, and year-on-year it was observed a decrease by 19.2%.
In August 2011, food prices fell by 1% and year-on-year (Jan-August) increased by 11.7%. In December 2010 these prices rose by 2% compared to November, and by 7.2% last year.
Prices for agricultural products rose in August by 0.3% and by 11.8% year-on-year for Jan-August 2011. In December 2010, their growth was 1.7%, and 4.2% in 2010.
Since June 2009, the State Statistics Committee has ceased publishing data on money turnover.
