OREANDA-NEWS. September 15, 2011. As the joint winners of a public procurement launched by AS Hoolekandeteenused, Nordecon AS and AS Eston Ehitus entered into agreements today for general contracting work in the construction in Kehra, Tapa and Viljandi of nursing homes for patients with special psychiatric needs. The construction work will cost a total of 5.6 million euros.

The designers chiefly responsible for the nursing homes are from OU Innopolis Insenerid.

The complex in Viljandi, which will comprise two new homes, is due for completion in June 2012. The care villages in Kehra and Tapa will comprise six homes, each with ten beds. These complexes are scheduled for completion in July 2012.

Eston Ehitus director Peep Sakk says that both it and its parent company Nordecon have experience in the construction of nursing home facilities, which is why it came as no surprise that Eston Ehitus - now one of the leading construction companies in western and southern Estonia - was one of the winners of the public procurement. The company is happy to be adding such a valuable project to its portfolio.

The construction of homes in 11 locations around Estonia forms part of the reorganisation project of care facilities for patients with special psychiatric needs which is being coordinated by AS Hoolekandeteenused. A total of 55 homes is to be built, each with ten beds, and there are also plans to construct new (and renovate existing) activity centres.

The new homes are to be constructed in Vaana-Viti and Kehra in Harju County, Uuemoisa in Laane County, Sinimae in Ida-Viru County, Turi in Jarva County, Tapa in Laane -Viru County, Vandra in Parnu County, Kodijarve in Tartu County, Torva in Valga County and Viljandi and Karula in Viljandi County. The existing care facilities in Vaana-Viti, Kodijarve and Karula will be expanded; the other facilities will be new.

The total cost of the project is more than 26 million euros. 85% of this amount is being financed by the European Fund for Regional Development, with the remainder coming from Estonia's national budget.
