OREANDA-NEWS. September 15, 2011. International Union of Notaries hopes on joining the notary Ukrainian community into an international association of notary corporations. This was stated by the Chairman of the Commission for International Cooperation of the International Union of Notaries Michel Merlotti during a meeting with Minister of Justice Oleksandr Lavrynovych, which was held on September 13 at the Ministry of Justice of Ukrainian.

During the meeting, Michelle Merlotti discussed with the Ukrainian Minister the progress of reforming of the notary in Ukraine, development and changes in legislation. In particular, the Chairman of the Commission of the International Union of Notaries welcomed the recent legislative changes in Ukraine, in particular which were given equal rights of public and private notaries.

According to Michel Merlotti, to join to the International Union of Notaries the notary community of Ukraine has to make only two changes to current legislation, which would, firstly, to minimize the administrative supervision of the state over the activities of notaries and the Chamber of Notaries of Ukraine defined the sole authority and self-regulation notary activities in the country. Secondly, according to the representative of the international community, Ethical Code of Notaries should be accepted in Ukraine.

Moreover, as noted Minister of Justice Oleksandr Lavrynovych, such initiatives should come from the notary community of Ukraine. According to the Minister of Justice, if such initiatives are, the Ministry of Justice will contribute to its legal implementation.

Besides, the Minister of Justice said that the Ministry of Justice in every possible way encouraged notaries to association in Chamber of Notaries.
