NTT America and NTT do Brasil Announce Expansion of Global IP Network
OREANDA-NEWS. September 14, 2011. NTT America and NTT do Brasil, both wholly owned subsidiaries of NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), today announced that the two companies have jointly expanded the reach of NTT Communications’ Tier 1 Global IP Network into South America with a new Point of Presence (PoP) location in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The new global IP network PoP enables NTT America and NTT do Brasil to better enable Latin American service providers and content networks to gain access to its high-capacity, reliable and efficient network.
“Sao Paulo is the ideal location to establish our first global IP network PoP in South America – it’s the epicenter of Latin America’s emerging marketplace with many opportunities for companies looking to increase their global footprint and drive the market forward,” said Michael Wheeler, vice president of NTT America’s Global IP Network business unit. “We look forward to working with NTT do Brasil to deepen our commitment to the region’s telecommunications industry by expanding network accessibility and capabilities between Latin America and the rest of the world.”
As a strong emerging market, Latin America offers valuable opportunities to the global IP transit industry, and the new Sao Paulo-based PoP will directly enable not only the growth of the local market but also the ability for global players to effectively and efficiently connect to Latin American infrastructure. NTT America and NTT do Brasil’s joint investment in the new global IP network PoP follows several years of working closely with Latin American companies to identify how best to help them meet broadband growth demands.
“The Latin American telecommunications sector is quickly becoming a crucial part of the worldwide market, so it’s an optimum time for NTT America and NTT do Brasil to leverage the NTT Communications Global IP Network to provide a stable and dependable infrastructure to meet the broadband demands of service providers and consumers in the area,” said Yukio Adachi, president of NTT do Brasil. “Together, through the deployment of this Point of Presence, we’re directly enabling the continued growth of the Latin American markets.”
NTT America and NTT do Brasil directly connect telecommunications companies, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), content providers, Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) and enterprises to major markets around the world via NTT Communications’ Tier-1 IP Backbone Network. The NTT Communications network provides high-volume data transport at a complete range of commercial-strength bandwidth options, utilizing the most advanced technologies to provide fast, efficient and accurate data transport.
