OREANDA-NEWS. September 13, 2011. NALCO Foundation, the CSR arm of National Aluminium Company Limited, has decided to sponsor about 250 children to Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar, from the current academic session, where these children can be brought to mainstream and imparted quality education. The decision was taken by the Board of Trustees of NALCO Foundation on Tuesday.

 “These children would be primarily sourced from the periphery villages of NALCO’s Damanjodi project in Koraput,” says Shri B.L. Bagra, Chairman of NALCO Foundation. “Representatives of KISS, with the assistance of Foundation’s Project Managers, have already identified the children after surveying 10 villages. NALCO shall sign an MoU with KISS and contribute to its corpus fund. Besides, we shall bring children to Bhubaneswar for admission and monitor their progress on a quarterly basis,” Shri Bagra added.

The beneficiaries identified are from Lachamani, Bhitar Marichamal, Kapsiput, Bhitargarh, Badanerka, Tala Miting, Rangopani, Kuturi, Mundagarti and Bhitarbhejaput villages of Laxmipur, Narayanpatna and Koraput blocks.

Apart from founding Trustee Shri Joy Varghese, Director (P&A) of NALCO, Shri S.B. Mishra, former Chief Secretary of Govt of Odisha, joined NALCO Foundation as Trustee recently. NALCO has been allocating 2% of its net profit every year for CSR activities. Accordingly, Rs.21.38 crore has been earmarked for 2011-12 fiscal.
