OREANDA-NEWS. September 09, 2011. Belarus’ foreign commodity trade deficit amounted to USD 4.318 billion in January-July 2011, compared to a USD 4.199 billion deficit in January-July 2010, according to the National Statistics Committee.

Exports rose 65% in January-July 2011 year-on-year to USD 21.949 billion, and imports increased 50.1% to USD 26.267 billion.

Exports from Belarus included USD 10.537 billion worth of supplies to CIS states, up 46.6% on the year, including exports to Russia, which stood at USD 7.544 billion, up 43.1% and to Kazakhstan at USD 346.9 million, up 26.2%.

Exports to non-CIS countries amounted to USD 11.412 billion as of August 1, 2011, up 86.6% on the year.

Belarusian imports from CIS countries rose 44.2% to USD 15.351 billion, including imports from Russia at USD 13.503 billion, up 42.4% on the year, and from Kazakhstan at USD 92 million, up 63.3%.

Imports from non-CIS countries went up 59.2% on the year to USD 10.916 billion.

The deficit of commodity trade with CIS countries came to USD 4.814 billion, up 39.2% on the year in January-July. The deficit of commodity trade with Russia expanded 41.6% year-on-year in January-July 2011 to USD 5.959 billion. In trade with Kazakhstan, Belarus showed a USD 254.9 million surplus, up 100%.

The surplus of foreign trade with countries outside the CIS reached \\$496.1 billion in January-July 2011, compared to a USD 740.9 million deficit in January-July 2010.

The CIS accounted for 53.7% of Belarus’ trade turnover in January-July 2011, Russia accounted for 43.7%, while non-CIS foreign states are responsible for 46.3%.
