Yanukovych Calls for Modern Car Service
OREANDA-NEWS. September 09, 2011. President Viktor Yanukovych stresses the need to simplify the procedure of vehicle inspection and registration at the Road Police Department, he said at meeting of the Economic Reforms Committee.
"We have significantly improved the anti-corruption legislation, but the tumor of corruption lives on and we should remember that it will not disappear without Government initiative. One such example is a significant simplification of the vehicle technical inspection procedures," Viktor Yanukovych said.
"I was convinced that we are done with this matter. However, I must admit that domestic car owners still do not believe that problem is resolved. There are still statements in the media that corruption is still there,” he said.
According to the President, this is caused by poor implementation of the law on eliminating excessive state regulation of road transportation. He said the Government should ensure the prompt completion of necessary draft laws and regulations as required by the law.
The President also instructed Interior Minister Anatoliy Mohyliov to complete the process of adjusting vehicle registration procedures.
"Long overdue is the need for modern service centers to provide services to car owners. And I look forward to proposals and initiatives in this area," he also said.
The President proposed to begin this work with launching such a pilot project in Kyiv. He said the appropriate instructions have already been given to the Government, and that the Kyiv City Administration Chairman promised to ensure their timely implementation.
