OREANDA-NEWS. September 09, 2011. Lipetskmyaso OJSC, a  division of Cherkizovo Group, purchased a large number of replacement “Large White” pigs from the company PIC Genetics – a world leader in the breeding sector, reported the press-centre of Cherkizovo Group.

1,081 thoroughbred pigs were flown from Canada to Moscow on a specially equipped Boeing 747, and then transported to the Lipetsk region. After a month of an obligatory quarantine the replacement Gilts will be housed in Cherkizovo’s pork complex, which has an annual capacity of 12,500 tones.   

Evgeny Butovsky, COO of Lipetskmyaso OJSC, said: ”The purchase of young breeder pigs from a leading  Canadian company is a significant development not only for Lipetskmyaso, but the whole pork segment of the Cherkizovo Group. The “Large White” breed delivered to our Lipetsk facility will become the genetic kernel, from which Cherkizovo can increase the future production rate of this segment.”
