Moldova Ranks 93rd in Global Competitiveness Rating
OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2011. According to The Global Competitiveness Index 2011-2012, this year, Moldova went up one position from the last year. The global competitiveness ranking is topped by Switzerland that last year also ranked the first. It is followed by Singapore and Sweden.
Northern and Western European countries dominate the top 10 with Sweden (3rd), Finland (4th), Germany (6th), the Netherlands (7th), Denmark (8th) and the United Kingdom (10th). Japan remains the second-ranked Asian economy at 9th place, despite falling three places since last year. The countries that went down in the ranking most of all are Slovenia (-12 positions) – 57th place, Montenegro (-11) – 60th place, Romania (-10) – 77th place.
Russia is 66th, Estonia – 33rd, Lithuania – 44th, Azerbaijan – 55th, Kazakhstan – 72nd, Ukraine – 82, Georgia – 88th, Armenia – 92nd, Tajikistan – 105th and Kyrgyzstan – 126th. Belarus is not on the list. The ranking is closed by Chad. Over 14 thousand heads of companies working in 142 countries became participants of the study this year.
