OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2011. Ukraine will buy gas from Russia in the amount necessary to meet the needs of its own economy. It was declared by the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko at a briefing.

"We will purchase gas as much as it is necessary for our economy. If we have been offered to buy more gas, then we, given our very low-cost transit location and the availability of natural gas storage facilities, gladly would do it, but own gas resell to Europe during the peak period, when it would be most beneficial to us", - Yuriy Boyko has noted having added that in Ukraine the law is passed which one allows to export a Ukrainian gas in different directions.

He stressed that Ukraine may offer the Russian partners to buy all Russian gas at the border. "And we will execute all European contracts", - the Minister told.

"I think that we will find understanding with our Russian partners about it", - Yuriy Boyko told.
