OREANDA-NEWS. September 07, 2011. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated private power company has many firsts to its credit and is recognized as a pioneer in the power sector. In its constant endeavour to enhance efficiency, Tata Power has ensured that quality improvement and innovation takes precedence for various operations and project locations, reported the press-centre of TATA Power.

Tata Power’s efforts have been recognized at the recently concluded Chapter Convention Quality Circle (CCQC) 2011 organized on the occasion of Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Mumbai Chapter - Quality Circle Forum of India’s (QCFI). The Company has been bestowed “Appreciation Award” for Long Association on the occasion and won the recognition in the following categories:

Ten top honours- Gold awards were won for the below mentioned projects implemented by various departments in Trombay Thermal Power Station, Transmission and Distribution(T&D) Division and Hydro plant in Bhira.
Prevention of Structural Steel Damage
Controlling the Spares Inventory Holding
Secondary Chute Modification
Stone Free Coal Feeding
Improve availability of Coal Mill
Chlorine Gas Evacuation System
Removal of scarcity of  DCP
Maintain availability of Fire Extinguishers
ELF Breaker Actuator replacement
Minimize starting time of  BPSU
Reduce the generator winding temperature of 25 MW sets

Eight awards in the silver category were won by Trombay (one), T&D(four), Khopoli Hydro plant (two) and Belgaum Station (one) for the following projects:
Multiple payment options for disbursement of Employee Payments
Resolve the issue of high winding alarm at 70% of load
Standardization of lighting system
Renovation of office intercom system
Reconnecting of oil filtration machine
Resolve frequent Failure of Communication between BFV Valve house & Control room
Enhancement of Safety in Equipments for Maintenance Activities

Three awards in Bronze category were won by T&D(two) and Bhivpuri Hydro Plant (one)
Resolve cable entry problem in 22kV Switchgear
Resolve routine Maintenance Problem of Power Transformer Cooling fan
Resolve problem of vibration in spherical valve and penstock during machine shutdown
