Uzbekistan to Modernize State Procurement System
OREANDA-NEWS. September 07, 2011. Ministry of Finance and Commerce and Industry Chamber of Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of understanding with the Public Procurement Service of the Republic of Korea.
The document is aimed at expanding and strengthening the financial and technical cooperation, technical and informational assistance for the implementation and development of the electronic state procurement system. The memorandum envisages conducting seminars involving experts from both countries to improve the system of electronic state procurement.
South Korea is one of the largest investment partners of Uzbekistan. During the period of mutual cooperation, total investments made by the Republic of Korea in the Uzbek economy have exceeded USD 5 billion.
In 2010, the volume of trade between Uzbekistan and South Korea exceeded USD 1.6 billion. In January-June 2011 this figure reached USD 780 million.
