OREANDA-NEWS. September 5, 2011. Russian Civil Aviation Authority (Rosaviatsia) renewed Air Operator Certificate of Russia’s low-cost airline AVIANOVA. This event coincided with the celebration of the 2 years of AVIANOVA’s operations.

From the very beginning of its operations AVIANOVA demonstrates growth rates which are unique for the Russian aviation market. AVIANOVA has carried more than 2.3 million passengers becoming the 11th largest airline in Russia and ranks 5th in terms of domestic traffic. AVIANOVA covers 28 routes across Russia and CIS from two base airports - Moscow Sheremetyevo (Terminal B) and Krasnodar at South of Russia, with a fleet of six Airbus A320.

AVIANOVA is the first to introduce the classic low-cost model on Russian market. The airline has made air travel affordable and in this way seriously affected Russian air transportation market giving it a new impetus for development. The appearance of the true low-cost airline has made many carriers rethink their business not only in terms of fare policy but also in terms of business efficiency.

AVIANOVA is the leader in Russia in terms of online ticket sales – more than 87% of tickets are sold online through the airline’s website www.avianova.ru with more than 40% of them being paid by credit cards. The high efficiency of business enables AVIANOVA to keep its fares unchangeable from the start of operations – from 250 rubles per one way flight regardless of the direction and length of the route.

“For the 2 years of operations AVIANOVA has become the most popular airline in Russia. Providing the best fares starting from 250 rubles we give an opportunity to absolutely everyone in Russia to enjoy one of the fastest and most safe way of travel. The success of our low-cost revolution is the result of the hard work of our team and partners who are deeply committed to the idea to destroy the obsolete image of air transportation in the country – travelling by air can be not only one of the fastest but also one of the cheapest ways of travelling across Russia!” – says Vladimir Gorbunov, AVIANOVA General Director.
