OREANDA-NEWS. September 05, 2011. The gas contract 2009 contradicts interstate agreements of Ukraine and Russia. It was declared on Friday by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov at a briefing in Kyiv after a visit to the private enterprise "Yaroslav".

Mykola Azarov stressed that the ratified interstate agreements in gas sphere above than the economic contract signed by "Naftogaz" and OJSC "Gazprom".

The Prime Minister has reported that has sent the letter to the Head of the Government of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in which emphasizes the need to implement an international agreement concerning gas in 2004.

“We have sent to the address of the Government of Russia the letter in which one have stated our arguments. According to the intergovernmental agreement ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the State Duma of the Russian Federation, come into force in 2004, the annual volume of deliveries of gas, a condition of transit and the price are determined by the special intergovernmental protocol. Unfortunately, since 2005 this position that is valid the international agreement which one is above economic contracts and, naturally, above the interstate legislation, was never executed. And consequently we consider that the contract which one has been concluded in January, 2009, contradicts, at least, to that part which one concern annual specifications of agreements, and they are not executed. Therefore we have all bases to tender the Government of Russia according to the interstate agreement to carry on negotiations on clarifying the volume of gas supplies in 2012, delivery of gas transit conditions”, - Mykola Azarov declared.

He has added that during the summit of heads of the states CIS the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych will meet the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev and will discuss a theme of gas arrangements.

“This is our direct offer - to carry out the next round of negotiations and finally to solve this problem”, - Mykola Azarov noted.

The Head of Government also has taken an interest at representatives of the enterprise "Yaroslav" about a gas component in produced commodity. He was shown the latest calculations: 10-15 %.

The Prime Minister has pointed out that the price of the Russian gas is a matter of principle for economics of Ukraine so far as it reshapes pattern of the cost value of the majority of the Ukrainian products.
