KEGOC Carrying out Repair Campaign
OREANDA-NEWS. September 2, 2011. KEGOC is carrying out the repair campaign to prepare the transmission facilities for the autumn-winter period of 2011-2012. Repair work will be performed at 884 facilities totalling one billion tenge and will include 104 transmission lines, 191 substation equipment units, 103 buildings and structures, 482 motor vehicles, and 4 units of other fixed assets.
As of August 31 of this year, 90% of the repairs has been performed, and the defects that could have potentially affected the transmission lines’ ability to operate reliably have been identified and eliminated.
After all the repair work at transmission facilities of KEGOC has been completed, the Committee for State Energy Supervision of MINT RK will inspect the facilities and determine whether to issue the Certificate of readiness during the autumn-winter period in November of this year.
The package of works performed to recover operation and increase the service life of the power supply facilities will enable a reliable power supply to be provided to consumers in the country this forthcoming winter.
During the period 22 - 29 August, the scheduled repair of the transmission line (OHTL) 220 kV Yerkenshilik – Yereimentau was carried out. This transmission line is an integral part of Ekibastuz – Astana power transit route that provides the power supply for traction substations (supply of railway transport). The line maintenance crew of the Akmolinskiye MES branch of KEGOC replaced three defective, reinforced concrete towers and repaired the conductors, whose technical condition can affect the line’s ability to resist ice and wind loads, temperature changes, and other adverse conditions while operating.
KEGOC performs the functions of the System Operator of the Unified Power System (UPS) of Kazakhstan. The primary activities of the Company concern the natural monopoly. The Company owns 110-1150 kV transmission lines 24.5 thousand kilometers long and 74 power substations with the overall, installed transformer capacity of 34,492 MVA, which form the National Power Grid (NPG).
Akmolinskiye Interregional Electric Networks (MES) branch of KEGOC (Astana) was established in September 1997. The branch owns high-voltage transmission lines of 220-1150 kV with a total length of 4,225.519 km (circuits) and 10 substations of 220-1150 kV with the overall capacity of 7,484.6 MVA.
