Mitsubishi Motors Announces Figures for July 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. September 1, 2011. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation today announced global production, as well as domestic sales and export figures for July 2011.
Production: global total and Japan
Total global production for July 2011 came in at 97,862 units, 4.9 percent down over the same month last year and the first year-on-year monthly decrease since April 2011. Production volume in Japan at 50,808 units was 20.1 percent down over the same month last year, the first year-on-year monthly decrease in three months since April 2011. Passenger car output at 45,335 units was 19.2 percent down year-on-year. Commercial vehicle output at 5,473 units was 26.9 percent down over July 2010.
Sales in Japan
Vehicle sales in Japan in July totaled 11,976 units, 29.5 percent down on the same month last year and the tenth consecutive year-on-year monthly decrease since September 2010. Sales of passenger cars at 8,706 units were 32.0 percent down and sales of commercial vehicles at 3,270 units were 21.9 percent down over July 2010. Registered vehicle sales volume at 4,739 units was 33.6 percent down on the same month last year. Minicar sales volume at 7,237 units was 26.6 percent down over July 2010.
Production overseas
Overseas production volume in July totaled 47,054 units, 19.8 percent up over the same month last year and the sixth consecutive monthly year-on-year increase since January 2011. By region, output in Asia at 38,442 units was 26.4 percent up year-on-year, boosted chiefly by 26.7 percent and 35.0 percent increases at MMTh in Thailand and KRM in Indonesia respectively due to firm sales in those countries. Output in China at 7,490 units was 32.2 percent up over July 2010. In North America, output at 3,795 units was 48.7 percent up over the same period last year, the increase being driven by fleet orders. In Europe, output at 1,744 units was 29.2 percent down year-on-year. In South America output at 3,090 units was 11.2 percent down on July 2010.
Export shipments from Japan
Total exports from Japan of 41,008 units were 4.2 percent up on July 2010, the first consecutive year-on-year monthly increase since June 2011. Exports to Asia at 4,618 units were 5.6 percent down year-on-year. Exports to North America at 7,691 units were 79.8 percent up over the same period last year, driven by an increase in demand. Exports to Europe at 19,032 units were 10.6 percent up on July 2010.
