OREANDA-NEWS. Starting from September 1, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technologies will start issuing licenses for using national short numbers consisting for five digits of the “14xxx” form.

Starting from February 1, 2012, these number will replace the currently working local short numbers consisting of four digits of the “02A(B) 14xx” form. Both kinds of numbers are intended for rendering information services about motor transport, including taxi, railway, air transport, as well as medical services.

This change was determined by the necessity of providing access of final users from all geographical zones and fixed and mobile telephony networks to these numbers without using the “0” prefix, set by the National Numbering Plan and by the increase in the demand for “02A(B)14xx” numbers. The Agency has provided 65 numbers from this block by now, while its capacity is 100 numbers. The capacity of the new block of numbers “14xxx” is 1000 numbers, enabling the Agency to satisfy the demand for such numbers. “!4xxx” numbers can be dialed from any populated locality of the country.

Local numbers of the 02A(B)14xx form can be used only within a certain geographical zone. To dial them from other geographical zones and mobile networks, one needs to use the “0” prefix and code of the respective geographical zone. IN addition, the tariff for a number of such type was reduced by the Agency by 6 thousand leis: from 16 to 10 thousand leis a year.

The Agency also provides suppliers, basing on their application, numbers of free access for callers (Freephone) from the “814xxxxx” block for information services about motor transport, including taxi. To provide access to codes and national short numbers from the number line “1” without using “0” prefix starting from 1 January 2012, the Agency obliged fixed and mobile telephony networks and services suppliers to make necessary changes in their networks starting from September 1, 2011.
