OREANDA-NEWS. From 29 August to 29 September 2011, you may apply for scholarships for the 2011/2012 academic year at the University of Latvia (LU). One scholarship is also financially supported by SORAINEN Latvia. The scholarship is granted through the LU fund and is named after SORAINEN, reported the press-centre of SORAINEN.

The office has been supporting LU for several years. By suggesting formation of this scholarship SORAINEN's aim was, and remains, to support students of the LU Faculty of Law during their studies and in particular to promote their interest in research in their chosen study field. In granting the scholarship, the student's initiative in research work and public activities will be taken into account. “This is the second year that our law firm is granting scholarships to new researchers, and we hope the response from students who wish to undertake research will be as large as the previous year. Our office has always been an active supporter of students studying law at the University of Latvia, and we would like this scholarship to become a tradition,” affirms SORAINEN partner Agris Repss.

Composition of the scholarship commission for this year: LU Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Vita Zelce (chair of the commission), LU Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Inta Brikse (deputy chair of the commission), LU fund, director Laila Kundzina, LU Faculty of Law, Dean, Professor Kristine Strada-Rozenberga, law firm SORAINEN, partner Agris Repss, Latvian Council of Sworn Notaries, representative Ilze Pilsetniece.
