OREANDA-NEWS. August 23, 2011. Volumes of container transportations on railways of Ukraine, including large-capacity are growing. In the first half-year of 2011 it is transported 58.6 thousand containers.

It is for 48 % more if compare with the appropriating period of the last year. Mainly it is large-capacity containers - 53 thousand. Import, export and transit cargoes are usually transported by double-stack platforms.

It was shipped 38.8 thousand of double-stack platforms for 6 months of current year, that on 26,6% more than in the appropriating period of the last year, and unloaded 34 900, that on 29,7% exceeded a last year's parameter. Double-stack platforms are used more effectively. Owing to the operative dispatching control, careful planning of transportations, reduction of time by cargo operations it was possible to reduce a turn of double-stack platforms to 2,85 day, compared to the last year, while they address 8,75 day.
