Ukraine, Turkmenistan Will Study Renewal of Deliveries of Turkmen Gas
OREANDA-NEWS. August 22, 2011. Ukraine is interested in renewal of deliveries of Turkmen gas. This was declared by the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov during a meeting with the vice Prime Minister - Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.
"Undoubtedly, we are interested in restoration of deliveries of Turkmen natural gas on the territory of Ukraine - both on traditional routes, and in view of prospect of construction of the Caspian-Black Sea gas pipeline system", - Mykola Azarov told.
He added that in process of progress of economy, Ukraine will be ready to accept financial participation in realization of this project.
The Prime Minister noted that realization of the project conforms to strategy of diversification of routes of delivery of the gas, proclaimed by a Turkmen side, and will be extremely favourable both to Ukraine, and Turkmenistan, as well as to the European consumers of gas.
The Prime Minister reminded that Ukraine had supported the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan on diversification of routes of export of Turkmen hydrocarbons to the world markets.
Mykola Azarov noted that Ukraine continues negotiations with Russia concerning a possibility of renewal of deliveries of Turkmen gas.
The Prime Minister informed that Ukraine works above diversification of deliveries of hydrocarbons, in particular, it is planned to construct in Odessa of the terminal by capacity of 20 million cubic metres which will accept liquefied gas.
At the same time Mykola Azarov has once again emphasized: to the most reliable and cheap by transportation of the Asian hydrocarbons the Europe remains Ukrainian GTS which for today can transport a cube up to 140 billion cubic metres of gas. And after modernization domestic GTS its capacity could be increase up to 200 billion cubic metres of gas.
"There is nothing more reliably, than our gas-transport system which now are able to deliver 140 billion cubic metres of gas, and after reconstruction its capacity could be increase up to 200 billion cubic metres of gas", - Mykola Azarov emphasized.
The PM added that Ukraine had the branched out system of underground gasholders which gave a guarantee of the compensation of supernumerary situations and a possibility during the autumn-winter period significantly to increase deliveries of natural gas.
Rashid Meredov, in turn, noted, that Ukraine and Turkmenistan had good prospects for activation of cooperation in energy area and in infrastructural projects in the territory of Turkmenistan.
