OREANDA-NEWS. August 18, 2011. The Ukrainian book should get support of the state and readers - possibilities to buy books cheaper and to read Ukranian in Ukranian language. Such task was put by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov during a session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The Head of the Government informed, that yesterday, opening the Kiev international book fair, he has got acquainted with "publishers who are not only successful organizers of business, but also enamoured in business of spread of knowledge and cultural values".

"We have already many competitive profitable publishing houses; there are simply wonderful editions, the books, which have received world recognition, Grand prix of the international competitions. To tell the truth, I would like to buy in 10 times more, than I could", - Mykola Azarov noted.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine charged to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade to analyse work of the market of book publishing and book-trade. "Distribution of book and the rules established in the market are imperfect, and the prices are spiteful to the buyer. It is wrong, - Mykola Azarov emphasized. - A book should be free for use, and the Ukrainian book also has to be supported and encouraged by the Government".

Thus the PM noted "the library network needs to be modernized". He charged to the Ministry of Education and Sciences, Youth and Sports to analyse situations and to work the project of modernization of libraries in Ukraine, first of all school’s libraries.
