Kul Bhushan Takes Over as Member Electrical of Indian Railways
OREANDA-NEWS. August 18, 2011. Railway Board Shri Kul Bhushan has taken over as new Member Electrical, Railway Board and ex-officio Secretary to Government of India. Prior to this new posting, he served as General Manager, Central Railway, Mumbai, with additional charge of Western Railway. However, he will continue to hold the post of GM, Central Railway in addition to his present post until further orders, reported the press-centre of Indian Railways.
An officer of the 1975 batch of Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE), Shri Kul Bhushan joined Indian Railways in 1976 after obtaining B. Sc. Engg (Elect) with Hons. from Punjab University, Chandigarh. He is also a Gold medalist with distinction from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. Shri Kul Bhusahn has been serving Indian Railways for nearly 35 years and during this period worked in different capacities, such as, Adviser Electrical (Rolling Stock) in Railway Board, Dy. Chief Electrical Engineer, Chief Electrical Service Engineer, Executive Director, Electrical (Development), Railway Board, Divisional Railway Manager, Katihar, Northeast Frontier Railway and Chief Electrical Engineer, Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala.
While working as Advisor Electrical in the Ministry of Railways, he was responsible for policy initiative for maintenance and operation of 3200 electric locomotives fleet on Indian Railways, acquisition of new technology for electric locomotives and for manufacture of new generation electric locomotives in Indian Railways’ factory at Chittaranjan Locomotive Works.
During his tenure as Advisor Electrical (Rolling Stock) and Executive Director Electrical (Development), Railway Board, he travelled various countries i.e. USA, Switzerland, Germany, France, UK, Japan, China and Australia.
