A. K. Vohra Becomes Member of Indian Railways Staff
OREANDA-NEWS. August 18, 2011. Railway Board Shri Arvind Kumar Vohra has taken over as new Member Staff, Railway Board and ex-officio secy. to Government of India. Prior to this new posting, he was serving as General Manager, East Coast Railway, Bhubneshwar, since 25th August, 2009. However, he will continue to hold the post of General Manager, East Coast Railway in addition to his present post until further orders, reported the press-centre of Indian Railways.
An officer of the 1973 batch of Indian Railway service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE), Shri Vohra joined Indian Railways in the year 1974 after obtaining degree in B.Sc Engineering (Hons) from Punjab University, Chandigarh. In adition to his posting as GM, ECoR, Shri Vohra was the Director General, Railway Staff College, Vadodara. He has also served in various capacities at senior levels all over Indian Railways.
His fields of expertise are management of Suburban Transportation System with specific reference to operation maintenance and power supply arrangements for electrical multiple units. He has also proficiency in manufacturing of electrical locomotives, and is considered an expert in maintenance and operation of electric locomotives. Shri Vohra has wide knowledge of planning, project evaluation and execution of railway electrification projects. An icon of monitoring mega and major railway electrification projects and their execution, he has rendered his expertise in preparation, planning, procurement and execution of World Bank and Asian Development Bank financial projects over Indian Railways.
