Moldova Ranks Last in CIS in Terms of Milk Production
OREANDA-NEWS. August 18, 2011. In January-June 2011, Moldova produced 0.24 mln tones of mill, down 0.9 percent from the same indicators of 2010, according to the CIS Statistics Committee.
Russia is the largest milk producer among the CIS states, accounting for over half of milk produced in the CIS: 15.4 mln tones (-2.4% against the same period last year). It was followed by Belarus – 3.26 mln tones of milk (-0.5 percent); Kazakhstan – 2.7 mln tones (+0.2%); Ukraine – 5.3 mln tones (2.3%); Azerbaijan – 0.79 mln tones (+7.8%); Kyrgyzstan – 0.62 mln tones (-0.1%); Armenia – 0.36 mln (+0.7%); Tajikistan – 0.27 mln (+4%).
Milk production in the CIS in the first half of 2011 reduced by 1.5 percent in comparison with the same period last year and totaled 29.1 mln tones.
