OREANDA-NEWS. August 17, 2011. ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today that it has relocated its Osaka Headquarters to the North Gate Building, next to JR Osaka Station, leaving its old home of many years in Honmachi.
The old ITOCHU Building was completed in 1969. In the forty years since then, this building has put down roots in the Honmachi area, and has been the site of a great deal of history as Japan has developed her economic growth. The Umeda area where the new headquarters will be located has been described as the gateway to Osaka. The ITOCHU offices will be hosted by the North Gate Building, which is situated in North Yard zone to the north of Osaka station, which has been the site of significant redevelopment, and which will be the center of the Osaka economy in the future. In this context, relocating to a brand new “intelligent building” will enable ITOCHU to upgrade its office environment and make more efficient use of space. By creating an environment where it is more pleasant for employees to work, ITOCHU will aim to take a further evolution as a general trading company by taking a thoroughly “front-line” approach, seeing issues from our customers’ perspectives, while still remaining true to the tradition and culture that has been built up by generations of predecessors. ITOCHU is also certain that this will also enhance the economic development of the Kansai region.
